The three fragrances of the Les Déserts d'Orient collection were first intended for Guerlain's Middle Eastern clientele, long devoted to its delicate and elegant fragrances. Then came the time to finally offer these three beautiful creations by Thierry Wasser in Guerlain boutiques worldwide, and we were won over by the beauty of Encens Mythique du Désert, Songe d'un bois d'été, and of course Rose Nacrée du Désert.

Rose Nacrée du Désert presents itself as an oriental fragrance, yet without the usual opulence of oriental perfumes. In fact, for this fragrance (as well as for his two other creations in the Déserts d'Orient), Thierry Wasser captured the very essence of oriental scents, far finer and more delicate than those typically represented in perfumery today.

Far from the clichés of opulence, Rose Nacrée du Désert becomes a warm, spicy velvet built around a rose still unseen in perfumery, and above all entirely composed by Thierry Wasser, who traveled to gather the best of each raw material's essence, as well as to immerse himself in the Orient from within, without cliché, without a worn-out image. The Orient thus emerges beneath this wild and deep rose to form, in the lovely bottle of Rose Nacrée du Désert, a fascinating and intense essence.

Rose Nacrée du Désert and the discovery of Guerlain's Persian rose in perfume

The house of Guerlain has always used the finest rose essences for its perfumes. May rose, known as Grasse rose, or Damask rose (the famous rosa damascena) were used in Chamade, Nahéma, Idylle, and more recently in La Petite Robe Noire. However, when it comes to the wild, saffron-tinged Persian rose, it remains a mystery to perfumers. Such a mystery that Rose Nacrée du Désert will be the first fragrance to use this mysterious, multifaceted rose.

This famous Persian rose is revealed as soon as one enters the scents of Rose Nacrée du Désert. Surprisingly, the top notes hold a powerful patchouli and the famous saffron note that runs like a thread through the entire Déserts d'Orient collection. At the heart, the floral note meets woody-spicy accords built between cedar and oud wood, and between turmeric and cardamom. Finally, benzoin plunges into an entrancing, animalic myrrh, offering Thierry Wasser's dark, beautiful rose and Rose Nacrée du Désert a bath of sensuality and torrid warmth.
