Songe d’un bois d’été, or the fragrant symphony of the Orient

Thierry Wasser wanted to compose the Les Déserts d’Orient collection to offer a series of bottles representing oriental scents in their most authentic, most vivid accords. To compose fragrances that would truly be collections of the finest ingredients from these sun-drenched lands, the perfumer did not hesitate to travel to find the growers and producers of his future fragrances himself, convinced that the finest accords are nurtured by the finest encounters…

It is the people who inspire you, and what you do with them. It is by going to the jasmine fields in Tamil Nadu that our Indian partner had me smell a blotter, an incredible vetiver that reminded me of bourbon vetiver, the one from Réunion, which can no longer be found. It is precisely from these precious encounters that the idea for the Les Déserts d’Orient collection was born, and it is also thanks to these encounters that Thierry Wasser composed Songe d’un Bois d’été as a fragrance both luminous and dark, like a fragrant moucharabieh that at times reveals itself beneath opulent flowers, and at times hides in mysterious woody notes.

Songe d’un Bois d’été is naturally dressed in the luxurious bottle powdered with golden notes from the Les Déserts d’Orient collection. The glass, like the scent, plays on an androgynous character, appealing to both women and men, although the woody strength of Songe d’une nuit d’été leans more toward the male audience than the female one.

Songe d’un bois d’été opens on the halo of precious light from neroli flower, enhanced by an aromatic, fresh laurel. At the heart, magnificent jasmine will marry the shadowy, distinguished powers of vetiver and patchouli. A lovely saffron brings its touch of spicy warmth to the whole. Finally, leather and myrrh create the profoundly torrid, wild sillage of this Songe d’un bois d’été, which constantly shifts between sweet floral daydream and the troubling, sensual scents of the oriental night.
