L’Eau de Muguet

L’Eau de Muguet is an eau de parfum from Miu Miu, the house’s first feminine fragrance, launched in 2015 under the name Miu Miu and composed by Daniela Andrier. A green, musky floral, it pairs a transparent lily of the valley accord with Damask rose and akigalawood, a woody, peppery material derived from patchouli.

Miu Miu breaks L’Eau de Muguet down into three stages: a lily of the valley accord at the top, Damask rose at the heart, akigalawood at the base. Its American text places a green accord at the heart in place of the rose.

At its launch, the house explained that it had rebuilt the lily of the valley with jasmine, rose absolute and synthetic green notes. Akigalawood, a Givaudan material derived from patchouli, brings wood and pepper; according to Beauty Packaging, it gives a note that is more spicy than earthy.

What the label declares

Behind the alcohol, fragrance and water, the list first names synthetic woody and musky materials, including tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, acetyl cedrene and hexadecanolactone, a musk. It also names oils of bitter orange, ylang-ylang, bergamot, rose, jasmine and geranium flower, and an ultraviolet filter.

What the list adds

The list confirms the rose and jasmine of the rebuilt lily of the valley. It also reveals what the house does not say: a synthetic woody base, a musk, bergamot and bitter orange, ylang-ylang, geranium and vanillin. Akigalawood does not appear under its own name.
