Oud Velvet Mood is the extrait de parfum Francis Kurkdjian added in 2026 to the Oud Mood collection, inspired by the sensuality of desert sand. A velvety peach note softens the oud, alongside a supple suede accord, saffron, grandiflorum jasmine and the leathery, apricot facets of osmanthus, in a square bottle of dark glass with a gold cap.

Where to buy

Oud Velvet Mood joins Oud Satin Mood and Oud Silk Mood in the Oud Mood collection of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, which the house imagines as scented fabrics to wrap oneself in. Francis Kurkdjian composed this extrait de parfum, which went on sale on September 1, 2026.

The dunes of Liwa

The fragrance was born of a night among the dunes of the Liwa Oasis. Francis Kurkdjian says he was struck by those endless horizons and by the tactile sensuality of the sand, which he wanted to translate into a caress, between vastness and intimacy.

The house sees in it a piece of velvet warmed by the sun, with surprising warmth and infinite softness. The perfumer says he wanted to highlight the fruity, honeyed facets of oud, in a fairly simple composition in a very contemporary style.

A name from 2013

The name revives that of an extrait launched in 2013 alongside Oud Silk Mood and Oud Cashmere Mood, which paired Laotian oud with Ceylon cinnamon, saffron and copaiba balsam. The 2026 version puts other materials forward: peach, suede, jasmine and osmanthus.
