For Her Forever

For Her Forever celebrates in 2023 the twentieth anniversary of For Her, the musky chypre that made Narciso Rodriguez the house of musk. Signed by Sonia Constant, the pupil of Christine Nagel, this eau de parfum keeps the osmanthus and musk heart of the original, but wraps them in a white bouquet of frangipani, gardenia, jasmine and tuberose, set on more patchouli. The bottle keeps the silhouette of 2003 in a gradient from black to pink.

For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez, a love dedication to women

For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez is addressed to the designer's greatest source of inspiration: women. This perfume is crafted as a dedication of love and gratitude. Celebrating the twentieth anniversary of this great saga, it expresses at once strength, vulnerability, beauty, sensuality and finally depth. It is the very personal and romantic vision of the imaginary muse of Narciso Rodriguez. A perfect embodiment of feminine personality, it reconciles being and appearing. It pays tribute to grace and unfolds a very sensual and powerful aura. From then on, it vibrates on skin. It inspires beauty. For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez seems capable of moving like a smile and celebrates women of every generation. It develops across the ages for an eternal femininity.

Twenty years of a dynasty born from a vial of musk

One must go back to 2003 to gauge what For Her Forever is celebrating. That year, Narciso Rodriguez entrusted Christine Nagel and Francis Kurkdjian with a small vial of Egyptian musk, found in shops in Harlem and Greenwich Village in the 1970s, and asked them to turn it into a perfume. The answer lay in one idea: an ingenuous floral heart of lily of the valley, osmanthus, rose and lily, set on a ball of musks and heightened with patchouli. After Gucci's Rush in 1999 and Coco Mademoiselle in 2001, For Her is one of the first perfumes to renew the chypre, and it imposes a resolutely modern musk at a time when feminine perfumery was limited to grand, transparent, marine florals. From this creation was born a dynasty: For Her Eau de Parfum in 2006, Fleur Musc, Pure Musc in 2019, Musc Noir in 2021, then Musc Nude in 2024, each opus exploring a facet of sensuality, powdery, milky, fruity, ambery or creamy. Twenty-two years after its launch, the line still ranks eighth in sales in Europe and has remained first in Italy for ten years.

Sonia Constant, the model's pupil

For Her Forever bears the signature of Sonia Constant, a perfumer at Givaudan since 2004 and the author of some twenty variations of For Her, including Pure Musc and Musc Noir. The detail carries weight: Christine Nagel, co-creator of the original, was her mentor when she started out at Givaudan. The anniversary is thus written by the pupil of the model, and Sonia Constant herself says of For Her Eau de Toilette that it is the perfume she would have wished to create. Her style, made of musks and contrasts between intensity and transparency, explains the approach taken for this fragrance: keep the musk heart and osmanthus that make up the identity of For Her, and push the composition toward more flowers, more patchouli and more light. In three words, the perfumer sums up her tribute: immaculate, silky, electrifying.

The very floral breath of For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez

What better ingredient than flowers to symbolize femininity? Narciso Rodriguez understood this well, and so it comes naturally that For Her Forever presents itself as a generous bouquet. Indeed, flowers are present from the top notes onward. At first, opulent jasmine blends with gardenia, known for being a very refined flower and also nicknamed “Cape jasmine.” Both gain in gourmand character through the almond-like addition of frangipani flower. This creamy, enveloping breath continues into the heart of For Her Forever, thanks to osmanthus, more apricot-like. Narcotic tuberose, meanwhile, is lit up with African orange blossom. Finally, little by little, For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez reveals the most sensual facet of femininity, in a final breath of musk and patchouli.

Narciso Rodriguez chooses a smoked glass bottle

For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez comes in a bottle shared by the whole collection. As a reminder, it has a very sober, minimalist appearance. It is a thick rectangular block of glass. The container stretches vertically, while the cap sits horizontally. Both stand in contrast to each other and yet become one. The shape itself goes back to a Chinese snuff box that the designer had brought home from a trip to Asia; in 2003, this black parallelepiped suspended in translucent glass came as a surprise, since black was then reserved for men's perfumes and transparency for women's. For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez, however, has traded its former opacity for a new smoked gradient, moving from pink at its base to black at its top. It is also in a very feminine pink script that the house's name and the fragrance's name appear. As for sizes, For Her Forever by Narciso Rodriguez is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml. Presented as an anniversary edition, it has permanently joined the collection.
