The house of Guerlain has always excelled in the art of telling us its fragrances through the most beautiful stories. From Shalimar to Mitsouko, from Habit Rouge to Samsara, Guerlain fragrances have delighted us for decades, recounting their scents in wonderful chapters. L'Instant, released in 2003, revives this passion for beautiful legends by telling us, through sun-kissed accords, the magic of this Instant when the heart floods with light in order to bond with another.

L'Instant tells us, with delight, of the precious moment when a man's heart meets a woman's and their eyes lock... Lovers of L'Heure Bleue need not be surprised, as the perfumed reference to this venerable ancestor is deliberate, intentional and highly displayed by the two creators of L'Instant, Maurice Roucel and Sylvaine Delacourte.
However, L'Instant aims above all to be a fragrance of skin, a fragrance of warmth and light. This is, moreover, a specialty of its creator Maurice Roucel, a great lover of fragrances evoking the sensual encounter between two beings, as seen in his magnificent work composed in 2010 with Frédéric Malle, Dans tes bras.
Surprising, sensual, captivating, according to Guerlain's words, L'Instant plays with the house's signature raw materials to make them even more radiant but also even more modern. As if the beautiful L'Heure Bleue had traveled all the way to the new millennium to speak to us no longer of a sublime dusk, but rather of a brilliant sun.
L'Instant de Guerlain, or a sun-kissed guerlinade, leading the way among crystalline ambers
We know, of course, that it was Maurice Roucel who composed L'Instant; however, Sylvaine Delacourte also took part in this beautiful project by proposing to create, for this new Guerlain, a sun-kissed guerlinade that would renew the genre.
It was much later, for the creation of L'Instant de Guerlain, that I wanted, and asked, to reinterpret the Guerlinade. I asked Maurice Roucel for a sun-lit Guerlinade: mandarin, salicylate notes, sambac jasmine and magnolia. Sylvaine Delacourte for L'Instant de Guerlain.
Thus this beautiful Instant is illuminated by an ultra-modern and radiant Guerlinade, but also by a rather original composition in which the traditional olfactory pyramid has been replaced by interplaying reflections of light echoing one another.
Thus the lovely Chinese magnolia flower, entirely new to perfumery, pairs with the beauty of jasmine and the exotic, sun-kissed ylang-ylang to offer this Instant floral and ardent rays. Benzoin, amber, musks and vanilla, famous ingredients of the now-cult Guerlinade, respond fervently to this heightened luminosity by offering their warm and sensual shadows.
However, bergamot and mandarin will not hesitate to lend these chiaroscuro blends their fresh vibrancy. Honey, present from the fragrance's opening, acts as the guiding thread of this composition, bringing its gourmand character throughout these lively interplays.
