A duo who could not be more talented to create YSL L’Homme Intense
To create this ultra-sensual composition, Yves Saint Laurent chose two of the finest perfumers, namely Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. Anne Flipo has worked at IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) since 2004. Originally from Picardy, Anne Flipo graduated from the prestigious perfumery school, ISIPCA. Anne Flipo is intuitive, highly talented and creative. She loves working with neroli, which reminds her of scents from her childhood. Anne Flipo is behind many great successes, among them “La Vie est Belle” by Lancôme, “Olympéa” by Paco Rabanne and “Love Story Eau Sensuelle” by Chloé. Dominique Ropion is likewise regarded as a great perfumer, endowed with a remarkable skill. Some even call him a genius. He has also worked within the IFF company since 2001. Like Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion is behind numerous successes in international perfumery, such as “Soir de Lune” by Sisley, or “Live Irresistible” by Givenchy.

Our duo of perfumers put everything in place to offer an ultra-sensual perfume that seduces from its very first scent. Regarded as an oriental woody, “L’Homme Intense” opens with the freshness of citron and bergamot combined with the fruity aspect of davana. The whole is heightened by a spicy touch, namely that of black pepper, which lends the whole a powerful character, sensed from the very beginning. Davana is an aromatic herb that grows in southern India. Davana is a plant that produces highly fragrant yellow flowers and silvery-gray leaves. Davana has long been used for its medicinal, antibacterial properties. In perfumery, an essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the flowers. Davana offers fruity, woody and aromatic tonalities. The heart of “L’Homme Intense” is composed of violet flowers, offering a powdery and green heart mingled with the luminosity of orange blossom. A flower of the bitter orange tree, orange blossom bears magnificent white flowers giving off an enchanting scent. Orange blossom was the symbol of purity and fertility. In antiquity, the bride’s crown was made of orange blossom. In perfumery, orange blossom offers exceptional luminosity and gives off jasmine-like, honeyed and very floral scents. Finally, the base of “L’Homme Intense” becomes as sensual as can be. Its virile sillage pairs a leather and suede accord with benzoin and cedarwood. The bottle follows the main codes of its elder. Here, the hexagonal cap is made of silver metal, and the precious nectar takes on an amber color that is nothing short of luminous.
