Cuir Grenat was released in 2023 in the Les Merveilles collection by L’Artisan Parfumeur. Christophe Raynaud tells the story of a Moroccan leather workshop: a grainy raspberry opens the composition, a leather shot through with amber flashes answers it, and Ambrofix holds the base with its woody warmth. The house was seeking a scent that would convey the sensation of touch.

Where to buy
L’Artisan Parfumeur added Cuir Grenat in 2023 to its Les Merveilles collection, which had previously been called L’Orient. Jean Laporte, who founded the house in 1976, had brought together his two passions there, perfume and travel.
Christophe Raynaud signs the formula. The house reports that he discovered a leather worker’s workshop in Morocco, observed the artisan’s meticulous work on a bright red leather, and retained the contrast between the darkness of the room and the bright light outside.
His intention centered on texture: obtaining a scent that conveys the sensation of touch, where the raspberry and the leather can be seen as much as smelled, with unexpected contrasts and resemblances. The perfumer says he works like a craftsman, assembling his materials with precision.
The Les Merveilles collection brings together the house’s richest compositions, presented in boxes and bottles dressed in gold. Cuir Grenat sells for two hundred fifty euros for one hundred milliliters, and also exists in a ten-milliliter size.
