A*Men Kryptomint

A mint version of the Mugler fragrance A*Men. Created in 1996, A*Men was Thierry Mugler's very first men's fragrance. Embodying a contemporary hero, at once timeless, current and futuristic, it quickly won over grown-up kids passionate, like the creator, about the world of comics, those typical American comic strips of the 1950s.

Released in 2017, A*Men Kryptomint is the new hero from Thierry Mugler. With A*Men, released in 1996, the house Mugler drew us into a cosmic and singular world. Since then, Thierry Mugler has continued along this path. A*Men Kryptomint tells the legend of a man with magical powers. The word Kryptomint alludes to the powers of the hero Superman. Indeed, kryptonite is the material that disrupts Superman's powers, and which, depending on its color, can prove fatal. Originating from the planet Krypton, kryptonite induces a supernatural energy in humans.

Jacques Huclier deploys his magical perfumer's powers for A*Men Kryptomint

In 1987, Jacques Huclier graduated from the prestigious perfumery school ISIPCA. In 1990, he joined Quest (which became Givaudan), and would earn the rank of senior perfumer in 2007. After recently interviewing Jacques Huclier, a journalist states that Jacques describes what he does as something between that of an artist and that of a craftsman. When the initial idea for a fragrance is formed, he humbly takes on the role of artist. Refining the idea and perfecting the formula requires the skill and know-how of a highly qualified craftsman. Also, when asked what his favorite raw material is, Jacques Huclier explains that Australian sandalwood should be in every fragrance… Australian sandalwood gives a pleasant woody quality, it is the heartbeat of Australia. Jacques Huclier is responsible for some very great successes such as A*Men by Thierry Mugler, Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci and Guess Dare Men by Guess.

Peppermint, the star of A*Men Kryptomint

A*Men Kryptomint is a fragrance between myth and reality. The composition opens with the intense freshness of peppermint. Originating in the Middle East, peppermint results from a hybrid between two species of mint, namely water mint and spearmint. Peppermint owes its name to its scent, which is, of course, very strongly peppery. Mint is a perennial plant measuring between 40 and 60 cm in height. Its leaves are oval and serrated, of a dark green color. It was in the 18th century that peppermint became famous in Europe. It was then used for its many therapeutic properties. In perfumery, peppermint essence is obtained by steam distillation of the freshly flowered leaves. It offers tones that are at once very fresh, herbaceous and peppery.

Then, the heart of A*Men Kryptomint is charged with geranium, which lends its floral and green facet here. Native to South Africa, geranium is among the perennial plants that adorn balconies. In 1672, geranium was brought from South Africa to the Netherlands. In the 18th century, geraniums were found in many European gardens. In perfumery, geranium releases tones that are at once floral, spicy, minty and rosy. Virile and sensual, the base of A*Men Kryptomint is composed of patchouli and tonka bean. As for the bottle, it takes up the main codes of its predecessor. It is nonetheless tinted for the occasion in mentholated blue, with its famous star now in green.
