Eau de Rochas Homme is the Eau de Toilette that Rochas launched in 1993 as the masculine counterpart to the 1970 Eau de Rochas. Gilles Romey composed a citrus aromatic in which lime, bergamot and mandarin meet verbena and lavender, over a base of vetiver and cedar. Its raw glass bottle seems to bear the imprint of waves carved into rock.
In 2020, Miguel Matos counted Eau de Rochas Homme among the best masculine citrus aromatic chypres, a summer fragrance he has bought five times.
What critics say
Miguel Matos, Fragrantica, August 2020
Miguel Matos, on Fragrantica, recounted in August 2020 that he has bought Eau de Rochas Homme five times, having discovered it as a teenager in a bottle that looked to him like a gush of water. The fragrance reminds him of his first gin and tonic, through its freshness, its citrus sparkle and its touch of juniper.
He sees it as a masculine citrus aromatic chypre, probably one of the best ever composed, with mineral, aromatic and mossy effects. He finds it extremely elegant and refreshing, and makes it the fragrance of all his summers.
Asked about the current formula, he finds it very faithful to the original, with a little less oakmoss and a bitter edge that is more discreet in the first moments.
