Davidoff launched Cool Water in 1988; Pierre Bourdon composed it. The house sees it as the starting point of the “new freshness”: the eau de toilette opens, it says, on peppermint and lavender, before a heart of oakmoss, geranium and sandalwood and a base of amber and musk. Its blue bottle was designed by Peter Schmidt.

The Cool Water bottle is the work of Peter Schmidt, a designer based in Hamburg, who also designed the bottles for Jil Sander and Hugo Boss and the packaging of 4711 eau de Cologne. He died in Hamburg in July 2025, at the age of 87.
Founder in 1972 of the studio that would become Peter Schmidt Group, he championed an aesthetic of reduction, clarity and elegance. In 2018, the Austrian daily Der Standard noted that his Davidoff bottle was still on perfumery shelves.
The house describes it as a simple bottle in fresh-water blue, topped with a shiny cap. The eau de toilette now comes in four sizes: 40, 75, 125 and 200 ml.
