Armani Code Elixir: Giorgio Armani's new surge of intensity The most concentrated Code to date Unveiled in spring 2025, Armani Code Elixir is presented as the most powerful and sensual version of the line launched in 2004. This Parfum concentration combines a leather-liquor heart with smoky spices, over a base of grilled tonka, offering an amber-leather facet unprecedented in the collection.
Composition: the amber-leather intensity of Armani Code Elixir
To transform the original Code into an Elixir, the perfumers chose a three-stage journey: a flash of green citrus that electrifies the senses; a spicy-leather shadow, dark and syrupy, that signs the seduction; and finally an amber-tonka glow that shines like an ember beneath ash. The whole raises the concentration to 27% oils, ensuring ample projection and longevity that exceeds the ten-hour mark.
The notes in detail
1. Top: sparkling Green Mandarin
The opening plays on the contrast between a zesty, slightly bitter green mandarin from Calabria and a hint of frosted lemon. A touch of CO₂ cardamom brings a minty pep that makes the citrus vibrate and prepares the arrival of the dark spices: from the very first spray, the wearer feels a sharp, almost metallic freshness, recalling the skin of a fruit barely broken into.
2. Heart: shadowy Leather & Liquor
A few minutes later, the citrus gives way to a leather-liquor accord: a suede leather, clean but dense, steeped in an amber liquor inspired by an aged rum; a thread of clary sage absolute lends a herbaceous facet that links the freshness of the opening to the dark register. Touches of smoky benzoin add a gently sweet resinous effect, while a smoldering black pepper crackles to recall the ember consuming the heart.
3. Base: Grilled Tonka Bean & dry amber wood
The line's heritage is recognizable in the tonka bean, but this time the seed is grilled: notes of roasted coffee, caramelized brioche, bitter cocoa. A dry amber wood — a synthesis blending ambrox and white cedar — extends the longevity and lends the mineral crackle of an incandescent wood. A few touches of bourbon vanilla smooth the whole without ever tipping into “dessert”; the result remains adult, carnal and charismatic.
Naturalness & responsible sourcing
• Green mandarin: sustainable Calabrian supply chain, extraction free of petroleum solvents.
• Tonka bean: community program in the Amazon, ground solar drying to reduce the carbon footprint.
• Leather: 100% synthetic accord, free of animal-derived molecules.
• Vegan formula with 85% naturally derived ingredients, no added colorant.
Development on skin: timelines & sensations
Phase 0–2 h: citrus-pepper flash
The green mandarin sparkles; the minty cardamom creates an icy chill. The black pepper bursts forth in glittering flashes.
Phase 2–6 h: leather-liquor heart
The rum-woody facets blend with the sage, offering a warm/cool contrast. The leather stays controlled, more suede than raw tanning.
Phase 6 h+: tonka ember
The grilled tonka, warmed by body heat, releases a gently smoky sillage. Rubbing the fabric revives the dry amber until early morning.
Application tips & layering
• To accentuate the freshness: a splash of pure bergamot beneath the fragrance will extend the mandarin.
• To densify the leather: spray a “white suede” mist onto the leather jacket before Code Elixir.
• For winter: pair with a tonka-vanilla body balm, and the grilled bean becomes even more carnal.
