Cerruti launched 1881 pour Homme in 1990, composed by Martin Gras. Its name recalls the year the Cerruti family founded its wool business in Biella. The house describes it as green, woody and spicy: juniper, cypress and lavender on top, a heart of vetiver, ylang-ylang and rose, a base of moss, pine and sandalwood. Serge Mansau designed its frosted glass bottle.

The bottle of 1881 pour Homme was designed by Serge Mansau for the 1990 launch. It is a massive block of frosted glass, whose raw edges the house compares to a stone cut from granite.
The house stresses the contrast between two finishes, smooth glass and matte glass, meant to express the strength of natural elements. The name is embossed on the surface, and a green tint highlights the whole. The fragrance is sold today in four sizes, from 25 to 200 milliliters.
