From his beginnings in 1990 at Gucci, the famous Milanese fashion house, to his notable tenure among the Yves Saint-Laurent collections, Tom Ford has managed to establish his sensual, bold and slightly provocative signature. By creating his own house after his difficult departure from Gucci, Tom Ford once again established the codes of his couture, both elegant and very porno-chic, a style now widely represented in fashion.

Having loved perfumery since his youngest age, it was logical for Tom Ford to add to his first haute couture menswear creations the founding of a perfume house in close partnership with the house of Givaudan. From this partnership was born in 2006 the legendary Black Orchid, like a new flower that would only reveal itself to those capable of seeing its beauty. Nothing is more desirable than what is unattainable, Tom Ford used to say.

Indeed, make no mistake, Black Orchid is a fragrance for the initiated, a rare fragrance meant to perfectly represent the refined delights of Tom Ford's couture. Moreover, the visuals created for Black Orchid also embody this striking contrast between heightened sensuality and understated elegance. To highlight the striking contrasts of this beautiful Black Orchid, the bottle plays with Art Deco style to offer us a juice of absolute modernity. Indeed, the thick black glass of Black Orchid boldly recalls the bakelite bottles of the 1950s, much like the hazy, muslin-draped atmosphere of the very first visual.

The beautiful oriental Black Orchid, composed by David Apel and Pierre Négrin, first reveals itself under a very fresh and fruity citrus light of lemon, mandarin and blackcurrant notes. At the heart, sun-kissed and opulent ylang-ylang meets delicate jasmine and gardenia. Finally, a fiercely spicy wind appears through pepper, cinnamon and ginger, blending further with intense woody notes of patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver. The smoke of incense is offset by gourmand notes of vanilla and a salty effect, the famous black truffle effect.
