Bel Ami is the men’s eau de toilette Jean-Louis Sieuzac composed for Hermès in 1986, a nod to Maupassant’s novel. The house classifies it among the chypres and makes it a celebration of leather: patchouli, rich leather and cistus labdanum, over a base of moss and birch tar, in a bottle inspired by carriage lanterns.
A bottle inspired by carriage lanterns, topped with a black cap shaped like a riding hat.
The Bel Ami bottle is inspired by the lanterns of horse-drawn carriages. Its black cap evokes a riding hat, and the back label bears a drawing by Philippe Dumas.
This label also places Bel Ami in the Parfums-Fondateurs collection, whose name designates the house’s founding fragrances.
