Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante

Ginger Piccante by Guerlain joins the Aqua Allegoria collection. For nearly two centuries, the house of Guerlain has devoted itself body and soul to perfumery. Today, Thierry Wasser is the worthy successor to four generations of perfumers who have written the history of French savoir-faire.

The house of Guerlain was born in the 19th century, and from generation to generation of Guerlain perfumers, the savoir-faire, the concern for quality, the desire to surprise, and the importance of heritage endure, which perhaps explains why it remains at the forefront of perfume houses with its oldest creations, Shalimar or l'Heure Bleue, as well as with its more recent ones, La Petite Robe Noire, l'Homme Idéal, or the summery and precious scents of the Aqua Allegoria collection.

The invigorating freshness of ginger for a surprising Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante

In creating the Aqua Allegoria fragrance collection in 1999, Jean-Paul Guerlain wanted to leave his innovative mark on his beautiful house one last time. For the Aqua Allegoria bottles, the goal was not to create complex compositions with multiple elements but rather to bring together, around the gold of Calabria, bergamot, one or perhaps two exceptional olfactory raw materials that would symbolize a natural tableau with restraint and beauty.

For each of them, the inspiration came to me from people or places that I loved. I have always composed my fragrances in this frame of mind, Jean-Paul Guerlain recounted about the creation of the Aqua Allegoria collection.

Once the perfumer retired, it was Guerlain's new in-house perfumer, Thierry Wasser, who took up the torch of these beautiful creations, the best known of which would be Aqua Allegoria Bergamote, Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, or indeed Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic.

In 2019, Thierry Wasser thus brought to life three new bottles that would join the long list of successful Aqua Allegoria fragrances, namely Aqua Allegoria Flora Cherrysia, Aqua Allegoria Coconut Fizz, and Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante. Quite surprisingly, Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante does not seek to transport us to a specific point on the globe, but rather to immerse us in a new freshness that carries us into entirely original floral aquatic delights.

Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante, the unprecedented meeting of ginger and a rose

Guerlain perfumer Thierry Wasser has always firmly stated that creating fragrances cannot be conceived solely in the laboratory but must also happen in the field, in order to find the finest raw materials on the globe, and moreover, if possible, the most ethically and ecologically fair ones.

Thus, to compose Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante, Thierry Wasser set out to gather the finest ginger rhizome in order to explore both its biting freshness and its green facets. He thus harnessed this freshness alongside bergamot, the signature note of the Aqua Allegoria range, as well as alongside a lovely note of lemon. This instant, icy freshness is nevertheless caught off guard by a delicate floral heart of roses. Finally, to wrap this meeting of citrus and delicate flowers, Thierry Wasser chose to close it with a dance of cedar notes, both lively and woody and deep, giving this Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante a warm sillage.
