Alive Eau de Parfum

Alive: The bold new fragrance from Hugo Boss. Every year, numerous new fragrances come into being. However, 2020 is no exception, especially for the house of Hugo Boss. Since the release of the previous Boss The Scent For Her in 2016, we had been eagerly awaiting it.

When speaking of the house of Hugo Boss, the image of elegant suits, impeccably cut, immediately comes to mind. Yet the brand is far from being solely specialized in menswear. Indeed, Hugo Boss also applies all its expertise to womenswear, particularly in perfumery. It is precisely in this context that the fragrance Alive was born, in 2020. Highly anticipated by Hugo Boss fans, this fragrance follows the previous Boss The Scent for Her from 2016. So, can its future be as bright as that of its predecessor? Here is our review of Hugo Boss’s latest creation.

Olfastory’s review

Hugo Boss opts for a minimalist yet elegant bottle

On the bottle side, the new fragrance Alive by Hugo Boss allows itself almost no embellishment. Indeed, the house prefers a minimalist and sober appearance for it. Its container is nothing more than a thick cube of transparent glass, into which is inserted a pouch of fragrance whose peach color clearly evokes the softness of feminine skin. The word Alive, for its part, is written in white capital letters. The whole is topped with a gold cap, a mark of all its finesse and refinement. Very luminous, this bottle contains no superfluous detail. Yet it naturally exudes a certain presence. In this sense, it fits perfectly with the world of Hugo Boss. Moreover, by opting for such a bottle, Hugo Boss clearly plays the card of universality and timelessness. Alive could therefore well be a fragrance set to endure through the ages without aging a bit, ready to win over every generation…

Alive, a fruity and aromatic fragrance

But then, what could this peach-colored juice possibly conceal? Contrary to what it suggests, peach is entirely absent from its composition. However, other fruits are indeed added to its composition, immediately whetting the appetite. Alive by Hugo Boss has a gift for awakening the senses and making one's mouth water, from its top notes onward. As proof, it contains plum, blackcurrant and apple. Vanilla, for its part, immediately makes the whole suaver, amplifying the femininity of this essence. However, let us not forget that the Hugo Boss woman also displays a strong character! This is noticeable through a spicy addition of cinnamon, quickly followed by an aromatic breath of thyme. The luminous femininity of this fragrance is then swept away by a breath of jasmine. Gradually, Alive by Hugo Boss becomes more charismatic in its base, enriched with woody notes. There, the dryness of cedar is softened with sandalwood.
Finally, let us note that the advertising for the fragrance Alive by Hugo Boss brings together prestigious faces of the campaign, namely the alluring Chloé Bennet and Bruna Marquezine, filmed alongside actresses Laura Harrier and Emma Roberts. Between a rich and subtle fragrance, a refined bottle and a top-notch cast, Alive by Hugo Boss seems to possess within it every ingredient for success!
