Acqua Di Giò Profondo Eau de Parfum

Acqua Di Gio Profondo, a very aquatic novelty from Giorgio Armani. Launched in 1996, the Acqua Di Gio collection draws inspiration from the depths of the sea and invites men to reconnect with their own inner nature. It all began on the island of Pantelleria, a place conducive to relaxation where Giorgio Armani liked to recharge between creations.

Perfumery constantly reinvents itself and draws inspiration from everything, whether landscapes, encounters or intimate stories. This is somewhat what resurfaces from Armani's Acqua Di Gio collection. Since 1996, Acqua Di Gio has drawn inspiration from the Mediterranean and the island of Pantelleria to reveal the full energy of men. Coming from an island territory much loved by Giorgio Armani, Acqua Di Gio keeps reinventing itself. In 2020, it gave birth to a new variation of its scent: Acqua Di Gio Profondo. So, what makes it so different from its predecessors? Does this fragrance still manage to surprise us? Here is our review!

Olfastory’s review

The complex and refreshing scent of Acqua Di Gio Profondo

Without forgetting its predecessors, Acqua Di Gio Profondo takes on a new character, very different from that of its elders. For this new formula, the house Armani does not settle for simplicity. Here, it chooses to head toward a complex composition, rich in numerous ingredients. It all begins with a fresh blend of citrus, combining bergamot and mandarin with other marine notes. Then the heart of Acqua Di Gio Profondo becomes a more aromatic and very Mediterranean fougère. Here, mastic, lavender, cypress and rosemary take us straight into the heart of the garrigue. Mineral notes then make the whole thing drier and more raw, while amber and musk amplify the smooth and seductive side of the composition. Finally, for greater longevity, patchouli joins this composition. Through this fragrance, Armani has attempted to satisfy every masculine personality. The result, however, is a very harmonious fragrance.

Armani's elegant blue-tinted bottle

Visually, Acqua Di Gio Profondo comes in a bottle identical to that of its predecessors. Its shape still echoes that of a glass flask, similar to those of gentlemen of the past. A deep blue covers its walls, as if to recall the dark and intense color of the ocean when depth intensifies. Very refined, this bottle is also enriched with a few more modern chrome details. Timeless and universal, it speaks to all men alike.

Armani treats itself to a big-budget advertisement

Finally, for the release of Acqua Di Gio Profondo, Armani decided to spare no expense. Its ambassador, Jason Morgan, takes us to the borders of Chile and Mexico, for an almost surreal dive into the ocean. Filmed in black and white, this advertisement is particularly immersive. Moreover, drawing on new technologies, Armani also shot its advertisement in virtual reality, allowing men to immerse themselves in a 360° setting. More than ever, Acqua Di Gio Profondo does everything to draw us into its world. So, get ready for a journey to the other side of the Atlantic? Acqua Di Gio Profondo is a captivating fragrance, both in its design, its scent and its advertising!
