For Victoria Frolova, in March 2006, the name of the Hermès address in Paris instantly evokes luxury, supple leather and silk scarves. In 24 Faubourg she finds the warm, radiant amber that runs through several of Maurice Roucel’s creations.
The floral, woody iris and the earthy note of vetiver set off the unabashed opulence of the white flowers at its heart. She values above all its versatility, precious at a time when occasions for grand gowns are rare.
Elena Vosnaki, Perfume Shrine
Elena Vosnaki, in September 2017, describes it as a white floral drenched in honey. In this abundant, almost Byzantine bouquet she detects resins, balsams, fruit, velvety peach and tangy citrus, the powdery softness of orris and a little wood.
Despite this abundance, she finds the effect perfectly judged, rich and satisfying. In her view, orange blossom, jasmine and gardenia owe as much to chemistry as to nature, yet the whole reminds her of a silken thread woven in a tropical greenhouse.
