To reinvent the scent of our grandmothers' famous rice powder, Tom Ford enlisted perfumer Antoine Lie. The latter chose to open his formula with a violet leaf that is both powdery and feminine yet very invigorating. To achieve this, he chose to pair it with the tangy dynamism of Italian mandarin and the impertinence of pink pepper. Then, sambac jasmine takes over and leads into a heart that is more floral and feminine. The powdery aspect is clearly brought to the fore here by the romanticism of iris. In fact, Violet Blonde even showcases different varieties of iris: Tuscan iris absolute, a bright, floral ingredient, and Tuscan iris butter, a woodier component.
