Each of the 3 fragrances displays a refined silhouette and noble ingredients. Originally, the first Tome appeared in 1992 and offered a women's version and a men's version. Today, Tome1 La Pureté is a sober unisex composition. It has a scent that is both very powdery and very milky. According to Zadig et Voltaire, Tome1 La Pureté is a nourishing and celestial patchouli-milk accord.

To create this first tome of their androgynous trilogy, Zadig et Voltaire partnered with Clarins. It was thus perfumer Nathalie Lorson who created the composition of Tome1 La Pureté. She grew up in the capital of perfume, Grasse, alongside a chemist father. Nathalie Lorson began her career at IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances), and joined Firmenich in 2002. Nathalie Lorson loves working with rose and musky notes; she is behind major successes such as So First by Van Cleef & Arpels, Place Vendôme by Boucheron, and Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent.
Tome1 La Pureté, delicately scented notes
To create this first tome, titled La Pureté, Nathalie Lorson chose notes that are at once soft, milky and reassuring. Its predominantly powdery scent is combined with milky notes, the whole opening on an intense freshness. Tome1 La Pureté opens with bergamot notes. The fruit of the bergamot tree, bergamot is mainly grown in the Calabria region of Italy. Bergamot has long been used for its medicinal properties. Bergamot essence is obtained through cold expression of the fruit's peel. Highly prized in perfumery, bergamot offers immense freshness, as well as orangey, fruity and slightly lavender-like tonalities. The heart of Tome1 La Pureté is a combination of milk and patchouli, giving the entire composition an enormous softness. Milk is, of course, a note created synthetically in the laboratory. Milk has long been used in beauty products, soap, cream, shower gel, and also in perfumery. Here, warm milk offers tonalities of extreme softness, but also gourmand tonalities. The warm milk note inevitably takes us back to our childhood, awakening our need to feel secure. Finally, the base of Tome1 La Pureté is composed of sandalwood, offering a woody and warm finish. As pure as the fragrance itself, the white bottle displays a minimalist and ultra sober look.
