Tobacco Vanille Parfum

Tom Ford describes a fragrance of tobacco, whiskey and wood. The amber, spice and bitter orange nuances inherited from the eau de parfum are revived by an oakwood extract and by the smooth depth of a whiskey cask accord.

Six key notes

The house highlights six notes: a tobacco leaf absolute, the whiskey cask accord, the oakwood extract, a vanilla absolute, an Italian bitter orange heart and a ginger essence.

The notes are arranged here as follows: tobacco leaf in the top notes; the whiskey cask accord in the heart; oak in the base. Vanilla, bitter orange and ginger surround the whole, without the house assigning them to a tier.

Ambrofix, an amber molecule whose dose the perfumers increase, carries the claimed amber facet. Of the eau de parfum’s notes, tonka bean, cocoa and dried fruits, the house says nothing for this version.

What the label declares

The list opens with alcohol, ahead of tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, a synthetic woody and amber molecule, placed before water and fragrance. Vanillin, which smells of vanilla, comes right after, along with linalool, eugenol and clove oil.

It also lists cinnamon bark oil, bitter orange peel oil, anethole with its aniseed accents, coumarin with its tonka bean scent and the regulated allergens, including limonene, cinnamal, geraniol and citral.

Compared with the eau de parfum’s list, eugenol and clove oil move up to the first allergen ranks, while benzyl benzoate falls far behind: a gap in line with the spicy nuances the house claims.
