Azure Lime

The Private Blend collection brings together the fragrances that Tom Ford keeps outside his current line, sold at higher prices and distributed more narrowly. Azure Lime joined it in 2010, on a citrus theme that the house links to Mustique, a private island in the eastern Caribbean.

Tom Ford says he sought the luminous warmth and old-world charm he attributes to the island. The house's current messaging wavers on the setting, however: the product page evokes at times Mustique, at times a Mediterranean charm, for an identical juice.

The house names no perfumer, here as with the rest of the collection. The launch price was close to two hundred dollars for fifty milliliters, a level that critics judged high for a summer fragrance.

Azure Lime is sold today in France in fifty milliliters, in both selective perfumery and department stores. A two hundred fifty milliliter bottle accompanied the launch, at close to two and a half times the price of the smaller size.
