Hermès Rouge, an oriental ambiance for an assertive femininity. The house of Hermès represents 170 years of heritage in craftsmanship, talent, luxury and elegance. Founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, the house of the same name was originally a shop for horse accessories.
While the 1980s proved a lavish era for perfumes with powerful sillages and original accords, Hermès presented the composition by its creator Akiko Kameï in the magnificent equestrian bottle of Parfum d'Hermès. Yet, despite the perfume's initial success, the creator's work was forgotten amid the likes of Poison and Opium. The house of Hermès and its house perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena decided to give it a second life in the year 2000 under the name Rouge, quite simply.

Parfum d'Hermès nevertheless had everything going for it. Its original equestrian atmosphere intrigued, its amber floral scents enchanted. Akiko Kameï's composition was magnificent, playing with sharp top notes to better lull the senses into a bath of precious flowers that would finish them off in a great gust of wood with burning sensuality. Such was Parfum d'Hermès. Yet, despite a blazing start in sales and a smoothly run promotional campaign, Parfum d'Hermès was quickly forgotten. Had too many original creations ended up killing off other original creations?
Be that as it may, it took until the year 2000 for Akiko Kameï's original composition to finally be reborn under the emblematic name of Rouge. The woman who delights in creating the unprecedented did not hesitate for a second to rework her 1984 creation, modernizing it and restoring it to its full splendor alongside master perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena.
Created by Akiko Kameï, the fragrance was then called Parfum d'Hermès. Reinterpreted and renamed Rouge Hermès at the dawn of the third millennium, this semi-oriental amber floral, which reflects an emblematic color of the house, is the very essence of sophistication. Hermès on Rouge.

While it is hardly surprising to see Akiko Kameï at the helm of Rouge given her strong tie to Parfum d'Hermès, it is on the other hand quite surprising to see Jean-Claude Ellena working in a register as sensual and burning as that of Rouge.
Although the perfumer is more accustomed to creating impressionistic, light perfumes such as those of the Jardins fragrances, he is also passionate about sensual, burning notes, as he composed notably for Terre d'Hermès. In reality, he says it quite simply: he fell in love with Parfum d'Hermès and wished to pay tribute to it by creating Rouge together with its original creator. While the opening is bright and rather fresh, Rouge's extremely floral notes give way to a warm, opulent heart that vibrates with the exotic beauties of jasmine, rose and ylang-ylang. This femininity at its most raw and most beautiful state is further enhanced by woody oriental depths, in which myrrh and labdanum become an animalic velvet ready to wrap the senses in their spell.
