Decision 42

Decision 42 was released in 2026 in the Exceptional Extraits, Amouage’s most concentrated line of extraits, alongside Overture 41. Quentin Bisch, who composed the Decision eau de parfum in 2025, signs its extrait version with Renaud Salmon, the house’s creative director.

Lightning and the juniper

Decision starts from a bolt of lightning striking a juniper tree: will the tree be destroyed, or driven toward a deeper existence? In Decision 42, Quentin Bisch makes the question more urgent, the house says, calling the extrait fierce, uncompromising and dazzling.

Renaud Salmon says he saw the link between the two 2026 extraits only afterward: the tree in Decision 42 could stand for the singer in Overture 41, the season’s other extrait.

An extrait at 42%

The number in the name gives the concentration: 42% perfume concentrate. The house places its eaux de parfum between 15 and 35%, its extraits between 40 and 56%, and reserves pure concentrate for its attars.

The juice ages for six weeks, two of maturation and four of maceration, the reverse of Overture 41. Amouage says it measured the effect of each duration and each dosage before choosing this pairing of 42% and six weeks.

In the boutiques

Decision 42 is sold in a 100 ml bottle in Amouage boutiques and on the house’s website, which lists it among both its men’s fragrances and its universal fragrances.
