Akiko Kameï

First of all, it should be noted that Asia is more of a global player in beauty when it comes to skincare and makeup products. The art of perfumery is not very developed there. Indeed, culture dictates that women tend to be rather discreet. They therefore have no ambition to attract attention with overly opulent perfumes. As a result, few perfumers originate from this region of the globe. Nevertheless, Akiko Kameï dared to take up the challenge and created several great perfumes for world-renowned designers.

Akiko Kameï and the house of Hermès

Very little information circulates about Akiko Kameï's career. However, it is known that this creator worked mainly, throughout her career, for the company Hermès. Indeed, she is responsible for three of the house's greatest perfumes. In 1984, she created Parfum d'Hermès. A chypre and oriental fragrance, it was characterized by a very complex yet particularly harmonious formula. Hermès then called on Akiko Kameï's talent again in 2000. As if to symbolize Hermès's entry into the new millennium, Akiko Kameï created for the house a perfume named Rouge d'Hermès. It belonged to the same register as its predecessor, revealing a floral and spicy character that was both impertinent and sensual. Finally, two years later, Akiko Kameï transformed this perfume into an Eau Délicate. This new olfactory version proved more floral, musky and woody than the previous one, while retaining the characteristic signature of Akiko Kameï's perfumes.

Akiko Kameï's other collaborations

At the same time, Akiko Kameï is a perfumer who has collaborated with other confidential perfume houses. Indeed, while some brands offer very commercial fragrances rooted in current trends, other creative houses prefer to give free rein to their imagination. The latter are considered niche perfumeries and cater to a clientele of perfume enthusiasts initiated to more daring scents. It is therefore for this type of house that Akiko Kameï particularly enjoys working. For example, she created the perfume Oyedo for Diptyque. This aromatic, unisex fragrance is intended for both men and women alike. It was launched in 2000. Similarly, Akiko Kameï had previously created 3ème Homme for Caron, a perfume from 1985, cultivating simplicity through extremely thorough research.

As will be understood, Akiko Kameï is a very original creator who has no ambition to achieve fame at any cost. She prefers to let her authenticity speak for itself and cultivate her difference.
