Prada Candy

On September 13, 2011, Victoria was wary of fragrances named Candy but let herself be won over by the house style. The opening, caramelized and luminous, evokes pineapple and mandarin, with a playful, elegant sweetness that never tires.

Musks and vanilla soften it, benzoin and amber give it a smoky depth, and the dry woods count for more than the buttery caramel. More refined than Pink Sugar, it reminds her of Comme des Garçons Burnt Sugar and Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, only more radiant; she gives it four stars out of five.

Now Smell This, August 2011

On August 17, 2011, Robin expected not to like it and found herself pleasantly surprised. A fruity, sweet benzoin, shot through with flashes of root beer, gives way to a creamy caramel vanilla over a soft, powdery woody musk, before a drier, warm, lightly spiced base.

She finds it far more refined than Aquolina’s Pink Sugar and likens it to Un Bois Vanille, smokier in her memory. Without adoring it, she prefers it to Prada’s recent feminine releases and recommends it for fall and winter to anyone wanting a gourmand without excess sugar.

On September 13, 2014, The Silver Fox sees Candy as a minimal, striking fragrance dominated by an enveloping, resinous benzoin. He compares it to Benjoin from the Prada Exclusive collection, striking but too heavy for every day, and finds Candy easier to wear, sensual, playful and addictive.
