Polo Sport, an eau de toilette for men launched by Ralph Lauren in 1994, is the fresh-water fragrance of the house’s sports line. Harry Frémont, a Firmenich perfumer, built it on mint and citrus, ginger and pineapple, oakmoss and musk. Its blue oval bottle evokes polo players, and Tyson Beckford has been its face since 1994.
The house now describes Polo Sport as a green aromatic: bergamot, lemon and mandarin in the top, pineapple, woods and ginger in the heart, oakmoss, seaweed and musk in the base. It pairs it with the image of a light sea breeze.
Citrus and mint
The opening brings together lemon, bergamot and mandarin, which the house wants energetic, and mint, present in the fragrance’s description since its launch. The whole carries the idea of a fresh, clean water, designed for the active man.
Ginger, pineapple and rosewood
The heart pairs ginger, pineapple and rosewood. The spice lifts the fruity note of pineapple, while rosewood brings a woody roundness with slightly floral nuances.
Oakmoss, vetiver and musk
In the base, oakmoss and vetiver lay a green, woody foundation that musk softens. Seaweed extends the aquatic freshness the house claims, that of a fresh-water fragrance.
