Tom Ford launched Grey Vetiver in September 2009, as a 50 ml eau de parfum. Harry Frémont signed the composition.

The house’s narrative

The house intends Grey Vetiver for an elegant, charismatic and provocative man. It says it built the fragrance around the most authentic vetiver note possible, taken out of the background where perfumery usually keeps it to fill the whole space, from top to base.

Tom Ford attaches a masculine ideal to it: vetiver evokes for him the classic man, confident, refined, somewhat traditional in his way of being a man, with an elegance he finds in his clothes. He counts it among his favourite notes, timeless, grounded and full of character.

Tom Ford extended Grey Vetiver in 2023 with Grey Vetiver Parfum, a more intense version in which saffron joins orange blossom, and in 2026 with Eau de Grey Vetiver, an eau de toilette.
