Where to buy

After being hired by the sportswear brand Cathy Hardwick, Tom Ford went on to work at Gucci, eventually becoming creative director and artistic director in 1994. It was in 2005 that he founded his own fashion house. A year later, he presented his first fragrance, Black Orchid. Then, in 2009, he unveiled Grey Vetiver, a masculine fragrance that is both highly classic and highly modern.

Elegance according to Tom Ford

For a very long time, vetiver has been the masculine ingredient par excellence. Tom Ford adds on this subject that vetiver immediately evokes for him the classic man, a conscious, refined person who has a real awareness of what it means to be a man, which is the elegance found in his clothing. Vetiver is one of his favorite fragrances, because it is a timeless note, strong and full of character. The Tom Ford house has always claimed to be a brand meant for straightforward men with innate elegance. Vetiver is a highly prized ingredient in perfumery, as it offers multiple nuances, fresh, woody and dry. Grey Vetiver presents fresh, spicy, floral and amber facets, and the Grey Vetiver man is no longer merely elegant, he becomes utterly seductive.

Grey Vetiver, vetiver in the spotlight

It was the perfumer Harry Fremont who was tasked with creating Grey Vetiver. It opens with the luminosity of orange blossom, which makes the vetiver shine. This is paired with aromatic and citrus notes through sage and grapefruit. The heart is composed of spicy notes such as nutmeg and chili pepper, joined by iris root, an ingredient typically found in feminine perfumes. The heart is loaded with vetiver, to which oakmoss, wood and amber are added, lending the composition a delicate sensuality. As for the bottle, it corresponds to a version of the iconic ribbed bottle of Tom Ford for Men. Ultra elegant, the fresh, white and silver coloring expresses the precious character of vetiver.

A talented creator with a provocative style, Tom Ford entered perfumery in 2006. It was Grey Vetiver that he presented in 2009. At once ultra classic and thoroughly modern, Grey Vetiver reveals the elegance of man. While vetiver sits at the center of the composition, it is nonetheless surrounded by rich, rare and daring fragrances. The composition is intoxicating and powerful, and lacks nothing in character, much like Tom Ford himself…
