Where does the name Égoïste Platinum come from?
To better understand the world of this perfume, one must first lift the veil on its rather enigmatic name… Égoïste is, at first glance, a rather unflattering qualifier. So why give this name to this fragrance? When the first version of Chanel's Égoïste came out in 1990, the house wanted to give it a typically masculine name. To do so, it decided to conduct a survey among women, to find out what the main attribute of men was. The majority answer was unexpected: selfishness! And so this perfume found its name. Then, in 1993, the word Platinum was added. Now, one says of an eloquent and brilliant man that he has platinum. That is how these two elements combined, giving rise to a scent endowed with a provocative and highly extroverted personality.
Égoïste Platinum, between balance and power
Chanel's Égoïste Platinum is a perfectly balanced perfume, as a tightrope walker might be on their wire. To this end, it rests on a very green fougère accord, recognizable above all by its aromatic freshness based on lavender and rosemary. Petitgrain from Paraguay, meanwhile, lends an extra touch of spirit to this composition, before it evolves toward a fuller and livelier heart. Égoïste Platinum then contains geranium, floral and peppery, as well as sage. Little by little, Égoïste Platinum intoxicates us with its woody, exotic and amber heart.
