Platinum Égoïste

Egoïste Platinum, eloquent yet so unique. Gabrielle Chanel's boldness and forward-thinking spirit also apply to the creation of perfumes. If N˚5 still enjoys timeless success, it is because it surprised and knew how to meet a demand.

The Chanel brand is renowned worldwide for its elegance and refinement. Yet, far from established codes and the very compartmentalized world of luxury, it sometimes paints the portrait of a man with a more provocative and extroverted personality. Such is precisely the ambition of the Égoïste saga, launched in 1990, before being completed by the release of the masculine perfume Égoïste Platinum in 1993. Presented as an alliance of balance and power, this juice is a green and aromatic fougère. Very fresh, this composition navigates between vibrant energy and woody warmth. But what about its bottle? A breakdown of its bottle.

A look back at Chanel's first Égoïste bottle

Égoïste Platinum has a bottle with an appearance very close to that of its predecessor: Égoïste. One finds exactly the same shape, both in its glass base and in its cap or its lettering. Here, everything is a matter of purity and restraint. No superfluous detail has a place in this design. It is simply a rectangle of glass with clean, precise edges. This is topped by a small metallic cap, just as understated and clean. In reality, the bottle of Égoïste Platinum is clearly inspired by the aesthetic of the Chanel N˚5 bottle, designed much earlier, in 1921. Its edges are the same. Chanel N˚5's femininity has simply been transposed into a masculine form. Its name, meanwhile, appears in sober black capital lettering on its front face. The transparency of the glass lets us glimpse a pale yellow juice. Only one element changes radically from the first version of Égoïste: its cap. Previously, this was carved from a dark, raw wood, evoking the sillage of the perfume it contained. Now, the wood has entirely disappeared, in favor of a silver-toned metal.

Égoïste Platinum's new shimmering bottle

As one will have gathered, the hallmark of Égoïste Platinum's bottle lies in its cap. This one abandons black in favor of gray. Shimmering to perfection, it brings a touch of light to this visual. Of course, it is also a nod to the name of this perfume: Platinum. It appears to be made of platinum, which is by no means an incidental choice. This also lends the visual a more contemporary and elegant dimension. Moreover, one also says of an eloquent and brilliant man that he has platinum. In other words, Chanel truly strives to preserve a common thread between the visual of its bottle, the message of this perfume and the scent it contains. This is, once again, a testament to all of Chanel's know-how and rigor. As for size, Égoïste Platinum's bottle comes in two different spray sizes: in a 50 ml edition or in another 100 ml bottle.
