Patchouli

Patchouli Réminiscence, or the myth of Patchouli Réminiscence, is above all a love story between Nino Amaddeo and his muse, Zoé. For 40 years, Réminiscence has imagined jewelry and perfumes inspired by the most beautiful places in the world. This is why Réminiscence perfumes are all distinctive olfactory poems.

Initially, the Réminiscence house specialized in marketing high-end costume jewelry. Established on the Côte d'Azur, it presented a whole range of adornments made from colored stones, brought back from the four corners of the world by Zoé Coste and Nino Amaddeo. Then, it was when they opened their first boutique in Paris that the house's first perfume was created. Named Patchouli, it made its appearance in the 70s and soon became a true emblem, a symbol of a new perfumery, championing freedom and the emancipation of morals.

Olfastory’s review

Patchouli, a fragrance synonymous with independence

Above all, if the perfume Patchouli has such an aura and such longevity, it is because it carries a message and stands as the symbol of an entire era. Having grown up in the 70s, it is synonymous with freedom. Embodying all the bohemian and sensual spirit of that hippie period, it delights those nostalgic for that time. Patchouli by Réminiscence therefore speaks more precisely to independent women, who care little for current conventions and value above all living according to their own desires. Although Patchouli by Réminiscence was initially received with a certain reserve, it soon conquered the entire world. Today, its renown endures and resonates as one of the most beautiful olfactory memories of a bygone era.

A breath synonymous with travel

Patchouli by Réminiscence also expresses, on its own, all the founders' love for travel. Imbued with nature and freedom, it invites one to roam the world in search of new scents and sensations. Oriental and woody, this fragrance highlights, as its name indicates, patchouli. This powerful plant gives rise to an oil, now used in a great many perfumes. However, patchouli is usually placed among the base notes. In this fragrance, Réminiscence succeeds in the bold wager of making it a central ingredient. Very powerful, this perfume nonetheless lacks no elegance. Patchouli is here also paired with Virginia cedar, Australian sandalwood, as well as Haitian vetiver. Undeniably, this creation is a call to travel.

Réminiscence's timeless bottle

From then on, all that was missing was a bottle to complete the renown of this fragrance. Yet, since its creation, its bottle has remained almost unchanged. It used to have its sides covered in a constellation of stars. Now, these have disappeared. Similarly, while it was once perfectly rectangular, it now has a slightly curved shape, fitting perfectly in the hand. The whole is topped with a sober and elegant silver cube, for a more modern look. Its label, meanwhile, displays its name with utter simplicity. Finally, the amber color of its juice alone evokes the seductive power of the Orient, in perfect harmony with the fragrance it contains.
As for advertising, Patchouli by Réminiscence can also boast of being self-sufficient. Indeed, with it, there is no question of a world-famous face of the campaign. Its renown alone is enough to keep the legend alive.
