Noir de Noir is the unisex eau de parfum Tom Ford launched in 2007 with Private Blend, his first collection of twelve fragrances. Saffron, black rose, black truffle
Osmoz places saffron at the top and describes a black heart built around black rose and black truffle. The truffle links the fragrance to Black Orchid, released a year earlier, of which it is seen, according to Kafkaesque, as a more refined version.
A base between chypre and oriental
For Tom Ford, patchouli and tree moss make the chypre. Osmoz, which classes the fragrance among the vanilla orientals, emphasises the vanilla, woods and moss of the base.
What the label declares
The label opens with alcohol, fragrance and water. Next come a synthetic musk, hexamethylindanopyran, and patchouli essential oil, the first natural material named.
The declared allergens are linalool, benzyl benzoate, geraniol, limonene, cinnamyl alcohol, citronellol, eugenol, citral, farnesol and benzyl alcohol. The list also names vanillin, beta-caryophyllene, rose oil and extract, pinene, rose ketones, camphor, geranium oil, geranyl acetate, terpineol and terpinolene.
