Black Saffron Absolu

Black Saffron Absolu is a concentrated version of Byredo's Black Saffron, launched in 2025 as part of the Absolu de Parfum line introduced the same year. The bottle has been redesigned and its textured cap draws on yakisugi, the Japanese technique of charring wood. The composition belongs to the spicy amber olfactory family.

Where to buy

The Absolu de Parfum line is introduced by Byredo in 2025 with several titles from the existing catalog, including Bal d'Afrique, Blanche, Mojave Ghost and Rose of No Man's Land, joined by Black Saffron Absolu. This iteration offers a more concentrated reading of the original Black Saffron. The redesigned bottle stands out for its cap with a textured surface, whose appearance evokes yakisugi, the Japanese burnt wood process. The perfumer has not been disclosed.

The composition is built around a top pairing nutmeg, a warm spice with woody and slightly camphorous nuances, and blackcurrant, whose fruity and slightly green character brings a contrasting liveliness. The floral heart is not detailed by the house. The base brings together black leather, a dry and smoky material, incense with resinous and slightly ashy tonalities, deep and earthy patchouli, and agarwood, whose woody and animalic profile lends the whole a density characteristic of spicy amber compositions.
