New Journalist Fresh Ink

New Journalist Fresh Ink is a men’s eau de parfum from Michael Malul, released in 2026 in the Esquire collection. A more gourmand take on New Journalist, it pairs lemon, mandarin and brown sugar with a heart of leather, lavender and caramelized patchouli, over a base of cedar, sandalwood and tonka bean.

New Journalist Fresh Ink opens on Italian lemon and mandarin, lifted by brown sugar. These sweetened citrus notes contrast with the aquatic freshness of New Journalist and announce the aromatic, gourmand character the house gives it.

Heart

A leather accord, French lavender, geranium and a caramelized patchouli form the heart. Lavender and geranium carry the aromatic facet, while leather and patchouli darken the composition with a warm, slightly sweet note.

Base

Virginia cedar, sandalwood and vetiver form a woody foundation, softened by tonka bean, musk and Ambrox, an ambery, woody molecule. The house adds an ingredient designated by its trademark, AmberEver.

What the label declares

The INCI list published by the house confirms lemon peel, patchouli, Virginia cedar and geranium oils, as well as lavender, in line with the announced notes. Coumarin and Vanillin support the softness of the base.

Tetramethyl Acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, a synthetic woody-ambery molecule, and Hexamethylindanopyran, a synthetic musk, head the list after alcohol, fragrance and water. Bergamot and bitter orange peel oils also appear, two citrus fruits absent from the announced notes.

What stays outside

The house does not describe AmberEver, cited only by its trademark, and does not specify the nature of its caramelized patchouli.
