Dior introduced Lucky in 2018 in La Collection Privée, its line of exceptional fragrances, which the house renamed Parfums Maison Christian Dior that same year. François Demachy signed the composition.

Christian Dior’s sprig of lily of the valley

The name comes from a superstition of the couturier: Christian Dior had a sprig of lily of the valley sewn into the hem of his dresses, or slipped one into his pockets, to bring himself luck. The house makes Lucky the scented echo of that habit.

The perfumer says he wanted to render the smell of that lily of the valley hidden in yards of silk, surrounded by an abundance of white flowers and freshness. The flower, he says, reveals itself little by little, and the fragrance is worn for the moments when one would cross one’s fingers.
