Love, don’t be shy is the first fragrance Kilian Hennessy created for his house, launched in 2007 and composed by Calice Becker. The house describes it as a gourmand that avoids the classic accord of ethyl maltol and patchouli: an orange blossom absolute opens the composition, honeysuckle and rose meet a marshmallow accord, over an amber base.
The house now sums up the fragrance with three materials: neroli, orange blossom and marshmallow. Its story opens on an orange blossom absolute, brings honeysuckle and rose together in a sweet marshmallow accord, and sets the whole on an amber base.
The original list
At its launch, Kilian published a more detailed list of materials: Calabrian bergamot oil, Tunisian neroli, pink pepper berries and coriander seeds, honeysuckle, orange blossom and orange flower water absolutes, Egyptian jasmine, Bulgarian rose concrete and oil.
The list also named an iris butter, a reconstituted civet, caramelized sugar, a vanilla absolute, a cistus labdanum absolute and a white musk.
What the label declares
The label declares limonene, linalool, citronellol, farnesol, geraniol, citral, cinnamal and eugenol. BHT and tocopherol are antioxidants, phenoxyethanol a preservative.
