Patou pour Homme, an exceptional fragrance signed Jean Patou
The fragrance of an extraordinary man
For many years, Jean Patou devoted his perfumery exclusively to women. However, after having celebrated women so extensively, it seemed entirely legitimate to him to also pay tribute to men. Yet Jean Patou did not want to highlight just any masculinity. His fragrance is thus dedicated to men for whom everything smiles. It depicts the portrait of a person who has everything needed to succeed and who demonstrates uncommon exacting standards. Thus, Patou pour Homme is described as an exceptional concentrate. Although very traditional, it lacks nothing in subtlety and appears as a concentrate of luxury and the extraordinary. It therefore suits a creative and brilliant personality remarkably well, values dear to Jean Patou himself. Nevertheless, the elegance of the Patou pour Homme fragrance remains quite singular. Its scent resembles no other and thus perfectly captures the very particular elegance of Jean Patou.
The singularity of Patou pour Homme
Once again, it was perfumer Jean Kerléo who was tasked with creating this fragrance. It is described as a woody and spicy juice. It thus displays a particularly complex and all the more captivating scent. Patou pour Homme opens on a fresh association of bergamot and lemon. However, these tart citrus notes are further enhanced by spicy, incandescent tonalities of Malabar black pepper. Patou pour Homme then evolves toward a slightly floral heart. It is composed of the elegance of jasmine and rose. Lavender is also present, displaying its notes typical of masculine perfumery. Other aromatics then join in. Patou pour Homme also contains sage, tarragon and violet leaves. All of this is, however, perfectly balanced and makes Patou pour Homme a fragrance with a very elegant signature. It then takes on a richly woody base. Cedar, vetiver, sandalwood, oakmoss and patchouli can notably be found there. Amber and incense, for their part, bind everything together. Finally, a touch of leather makes this fragrance even more animalic. Originally, the composition was housed in a bottle inspired by that of Joy. It was, however, redesigned in a more masculine way and rested on a solid base. Since 2014, though, Patou pour Homme has been classified in the Héritage collection and has therefore changed packaging. It is now presented in an elegant bottle with generous curves.
