Lost Cherry joined Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection in 2018, composed by Louise Turner, a perfumer at Givaudan. The house sets the sugary gleam of a black cherry steeped in its liqueur, lifted by bitter almond, against the darker flesh of Turkish rose, Sambac jasmine, Peru balsam and roasted tonka bean, over a base of sandalwood, vetiver and cedar.
Tom Ford describes an opening that captures black cherry: its ripe flesh steeped in cherry liqueur, brushed with a hint of bitter almond. The heart unfolds waves of cherry, sweet and tart, carried by a griotte syrup that renders the maceration of the fruit.
Turkish rose and Sambac jasmine
An absolute of Turkish rose and Sambac jasmine form the floral heart of the composition. The house pairs them with an unexpected blend of sandalwood, vetiver and cedar, which gives the fragrance its woody base.
The balsamic base
Peru balsam and roasted tonka bean hold the base. Tom Ford sees in it a new portrait of a symbol, the cherry, between sweetness and shadow.
What the label declares
After alcohol, water and fragrance, the label declares twenty-four allergens, from benzyl salicylate to benzyl cinnamate, among them hydroxycitronellal, isoeugenol and oakmoss and treemoss extracts, as well as two antioxidants.
