It is official: the gentleman has just made his grand return within the Lacoste house. The brand presents its fragrance L'Homme, a concentrate of elegance, modernity and refinement. A sort of embodiment of today's man, this fragrance possesses a certain sophistication without lacking dynamism.
The Lacoste house, with its sporty and chic fragrances, seems to have become, in just a few years, a composer of successful perfumes. While Lacoste's men's fragrances have so far mostly offered fine sporty compositions, L'Homme de Lacoste, the fragrance composed by Michel Girard in 2017, will prove to us that athleticism and elegance can indeed go hand in hand.
L'Homme Lacoste, or the spontaneity and charm of the 21st-century man
L'Homme de Lacoste is a fragrance that was first intended to pay tribute to the incredible personality of the founder of the Lacoste house, René Lacoste. A determined champion with impressive composure, the tennis player was nonetheless an affable and cheerful figure off the tennis court. Michel Girard drew inspiration from this remarkable man to compose a fragrance full of complementary and contradictory facets: L'Homme de Lacoste.
L'Homme de Lacoste thus brings together all the fine qualities of the former athlete, as well as, of course, all the flagship values of the house he founded with his own hands. However, Michel Girard states that he did not intend this L'Homme de Lacoste solely for the man who has loved the crocodile for decades; it also speaks to the younger generation, whom he admires for their intellectual curiosity and their lack of materialism.
This spontaneity, the nose says he translated it through a surprising freshness: rinds and spices heightened with rhubarb, unsettling a base of patchouli and cedar. Michel Girard for L'Homme de Lacoste, Le Figaro.
Indeed, L'Homme de Lacoste does not hesitate to break away from the traditional olfactory patterns of the season, offering itself a rather revolutionary green hot-cold twist at a time when men's fragrances tend to be powerful and remarkably woody.
The rhubarb of L'Homme Lacoste for a fragrance with a fake-cool twist signed Michel Girard
First, if we had to characterize this new juice, we could say it is a fake-fresh or a warm-fresh. The basic idea was to maintain freshness for as long as possible and to choose a theme, a main ingredient. We chose rhubarb, which is very interesting for its green side and its hyper-sharp quality, both acidic and bitter. Michel Girard for L'Homme de Lacoste.
L'Homme de Lacoste opens with a bursting, citrus start of mandarins and lemons. Then the notes of quince and rhubarb assert themselves, forming with the citrus powerful green accords with a sharp, nervy bitterness. Then, at the heart, L'Homme de Lacoste asserts its boldness through notes of black pepper and ginger, reinforcing, to our great pleasure, the floral and elegant sweetness of jasmine paired with a delightfully powdery almond. The woody, sensual depths of L'Homme Lacoste grow warmer than ever, blending cedarwood, dried amber wood, Akigala wood with animalic notes of melting gourmand quality from vanilla and musks.
L'Homme Lacoste thus reveals itself through its absolute modernity tinged with exceptional elegance, paying tribute both to the champion René Lacoste and to the young generation of men who will wear this sublime fragrance.
