From the release of its very first masculine perfume, Pour Homme in 1971, the house of Yves Saint-Laurent knew how to set the tone for what would become a successful perfumery, a perfumery of sophistication and boldness worthy of the innovative and dandyish master of haute couture Yves Saint-Laurent. Pour Homme thus took hold of the codes of traditional, very fresh masculine perfumery in order to shake them up with woody notes and even a few flowers bringing luxury and elegance to the whole. The years have passed but the designer remains the same. The creator of this lovely Jazz, Jean-François Latty, was then a very young perfumer. Born in Grasse, the man grew up amid the flower fields and unique scents of this region recognized the world over for the quality of its fragrances. Strongly inspired by this love of natural ingredients, Jean-François Latty composed for Jazz one of his finest works before becoming linked for a long time to the great house Téo Cabanel, which he revived thanks to his talent.
Thus the perfumer chose to open the scent ball of Jazz with fresh, citrus notes of bergamot paired with aromatic notes of basil, star anise and lavender. At the heart, clary sage echoes them while geranium and carnation propel us into a gust of floral freshness that is lively, even sharp. A touch of cinnamon brings its spicy roundness to this dynamic heart. Finally, coumarin comes to bind these fresh notes with its animalic and oceanic power, better carrying us toward the woody and very virile depths of patchouli, vetiver and oakmoss.
