Blodwode

Blodwode belongs to the Werwulf collection, which Heretic Parfum launched in 2026 with Focus Features around Robert Eggers’s film, due in theaters at Christmas. Sold as a limited edition, in a 30 ml bottle at 125 dollars, it has been available since October 26, 2026 on the house’s website alone.

Heretic calls it an “eau de macabre,” without specifying the concentration, and presents it with Werwulf and Þe Wode Hath Teth, as well as in a set of three 5 ml miniatures.

The Memory of the Forest

The house builds the collection on three figures: the forest, the beast and the blood. Blodwode plays the blood, the memory of what the forest saw once the deed was done; every leaf and every piece of bark, it says, keeps the scent of what it went through.

Its story gives the trees a voice: wormwood crushed beneath unseen steps, resin bleeding from wounded bark and, beneath it, fur, musk, heat, wet leather and animal hide, the heat of flesh that was once human.

The Most Polarizing of the Three

Douglas Little, who founded Heretic and composes its fragrances, signed all three creations in the collection and expects Blodwode to divide people the most. He gives it a sharp metallic note of copper and a note of iron rust, softened by woody notes.
