Where to buy

This is how he decided to pay tribute, with his fragrance Habit Rouge, to the traditional red coat worn by riders competing in show jumping or setting off for the hunt. It came into being in 1965, and Habit Rouge Dress Code stands as its worthy successor, celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The story of one of Guerlain's most iconic fragrances

The voice of the hounds mingled with the deep sound of hunting horns pierced the morning freshness. Then, in a flash, came the fleeting appearance of the strident red of a man's coat, his firm hand gripping the reins of a thoroughbred. Had I dreamed it? Yet lingering in the wake of the red coat were unsettling autumnal scents, mingled with a sensual perfume of leather and tobacco. Habit Rouge was born within me. Habit Rouge possessed a kind of timeless generosity that allowed it to cross decades with elegance. This fragrance of contrasts, blending the freshness of citrus with the warmth of the undergrowth, was reinterpreted time and again. In 1967, it appeared in a sharper, more acidic version closer to a standard Eau de Cologne. This was Habit Rouge Dry. The two then remained inseparable for many years before being joined by a broader collection. In 2003, neroli made its way into the heart of its Eau de Parfum, accompanied on this occasion by oud wood. In 2005, the Habit Rouge Eau de Toilette became lighter, before taking the opposite approach with an Extrait de Parfum in 2008. In 2009, it was reinterpreted once again in a fresher, sportier variation. Finally, it was in 2015 that Habit Rouge Dress Code made its appearance.

Habit Rouge Dress Code, a highly contemporary revisit

Far more than a simple olfactory reinterpretation, Habit Rouge Dress Code was created to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of this icon of perfumery. In other words, it had to make a stronger impression than ever. To achieve this, Guerlain reinvented its fragrance in an entirely contemporary version. Habit Rouge Dress Code is a wildly addictive and daring fragrance. This oriental composition reveals an unprecedented sensuality. A true woody surge for men, this fragrance immediately creates surprise from the outset thanks to its vanilla-laced flavors. Praline, for its part, adds gourmand character here, while a tonka bean accord completes the composition with a creamier base. The whole is conceived as a style manifesto for today's dandies. Habit Rouge Dress Code stands as the perfect embodiment of confident, refined contemporary masculinity. It is a resolutely chic fragrance, delightful and more creative than ever.
