Gucci Rush is a women’s eau de toilette launched by Gucci in 1999 and composed by Michel Almairac. This fruity chypre pairs peach, gardenia and freesia in the top, coriander, rose and jasmine in the heart, and patchouli, vanilla and vetiver in the base. Its flat, rectangular red bottle recalls a videotape.
Gucci spreads the notes of Rush over three tiers. Juicy peach, California gardenia and African freesia petals open the fragrance; coriander, Damask rose and jasmine make up its heart; patchouli, vanilla and vetiver form the base.
Bois de Jasmin also cites cardamom and musks, and describes a sheer moss and hedione, a molecule that smells of jasmine and lily of the valley, as the fragrance’s supporting materials. The peach evokes less a juicy fruit than the dry skin of the fruit.
Recent bottles list patchouli oil, rose oil and vanillin on their box, absent from the ingredient list of older bottles, which showed only the fragrance, the filters and the declared allergenic components.
