To create this new fragrance, the house of Diesel chose perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. Son of a French perfumer, Fabrice Pellegrin grew up surrounded by scents. In 1999, he began his career at Mane before joining the renowned firm Firmenich. More than anything, Fabrice Pellegrin loves working with natural raw materials and avoids using synthetic molecules as much as possible. He also likes composing short, structured formulas. When asked what his favorite raw material is, Fabrice Pellegrin states jasmine from Grasse in the month of August... Fabrice Pellegrin is behind such fine fragrances as Valentina Pink by Valentino, Wanted by Azzaro and La Fille de l'Air by Courrèges.
Fuel for Life Spirit, olfactory notes of Diesel freedom
From the very start, Fuel for Life Spirit displays its character and energy through the presence of grapefruit heightened by cinnamon. The word cinnamon comes from the Latin canna, meaning reed. Originally from China, cinnamon has been used since antiquity for its medicinal properties. At first, cinnamon was reserved for the wealthy. It was from the Renaissance onward that cinnamon became more widely available and began to be used in cooking. In perfumery, bark fragments are used, distilled with steam. Cinnamon releases tones that are at once spicy, sweet, peppery and vanilla-like. Then, the heart turns floral, combining iris with orange blossom. Along with oud, iris is the most expensive raw material in perfumery. The earliest traces of iris are found along the Mediterranean, around 3000 BC. In Greek mythology, iris is the messenger of the gods and is depicted through a rainbow, echoing its wonderful colors. In perfumery, it is the rhizomes of the iris that are used. The process is long and highly delicate, which explains its high price. In perfumery, iris releases powdery, floral, woody and green tones. Finally, the base of Fuel for Life Spirit is sensual and virile, combining amber woods, cashmeran and incense. As for the bottle, it takes up the flask shape of its predecessors.
