Flower in the air: Kenzo's poppy becomes a sun flower... Kenzo made us dream of its imaginary poppy scents growing on concrete thanks to Flower in 2000.
With Flower in The Air, released in 2013, the time has come for dreams and freedom. Here, the poppy takes flight in an ultra light and delicate way. The poppy, the emblematic flower of the house of Kenzo, becomes an absolutely dazzling airy flower. In 2000, we first encountered the poppy through the fragrance Flower, when poppies grew on concrete. Today, the poppy is back, and it asks us: what if you took the time to live?
Flower in The Air, a freedom signed by perfumer Alberto Morillas
Born in 1950 in Seville (Spain), Alberto Morillas is entirely self-taught. After studying Fine Arts, he joined Firmenich following an article he had read about Guerlain. There, Alberto Morillas learned perfumery. It was in 1977 that he earned his title of Perfumer, then in 1998 that of Master Perfumer. In 1981, at only 24 years old, he created Must by Cartier, which propelled him to the forefront of the scene. In 2003, Alberto Morillas was honored for his entire career (around 300 fragrances) and received the Prix Coty. Alberto Morillas is regarded not only as a highly talented perfumer, but also as avant-garde and ultra sensual, and above all he loves to create emotions. Alberto Morillas is behind such major successes as Pi by Givenchy, Belle d'Opium by Yves Saint Laurent and Acqua Di Gio Homme by Armani.
Flower in The Air, or the quintessence of Kenzo flowers
Flower in The Air is undoubtedly an ultra feminine essence thanks to the presence of numerous flowers. The fragrance opens on a juicy, sparkling raspberry. This is then heightened by pink pepper. Also known as pink peppercorns, pink pepper originates from South America. Its appearance resembles that of the pepper plant, but pink pepper is not actually a variety of pepper. The berries hang in clusters and, when ripe, take on a bright pink color. Pink pepper is now mainly grown in Madagascar and Réunion Island, where it is called the pink gold of Réunion. In perfumery, pink pepper releases tonalities that are at once fruity, spicy, anise-like and peppery. The heart of Flower in The Air then evolves toward very feminine notes, combining gardenia, rose and magnolia. Gardenia is a flower of dazzling beauty. Gardenia is found in southern China, Japan and India. Gardenia takes its name from the American botanist who discovered it in the 18th century. In the language of flowers, gardenia symbolizes romance and secret love. In perfumery, gardenia offers tonalities that are very floral, opulent and also green. Finally, the base of Flower in The Air is made very sensual by the presence of white musks. With its round shape and transparency, the bottle is also meant to be ultra feminine. In its cap, the red poppy is embedded in the glass, recalling the freedom and beauty of flowers.
