Eau Rose is a unisex eau de parfum by Diptyque, launched in 2022 to mark the tenth anniversary of the 2012 eau de toilette. Signed by Fabrice Pellegrin, it combines Damask rose, centifolia rose and a Firad rose with hints of lychee, chamomile and an artichoke accord. In 2026, the house reissues it in a holiday bottle dressed in black and gold wood.
The critic Persolaise finds Eau Rose in eau de parfum pleasant but overworked: he detects the chamomile but not the artichoke, and finds the lychee note too labored, far from the lightness he admires in Perris’s Rose de Mai.
What critics say
A rose that overdoes it
On January 21, 2022, the critic Persolaise, an admirer of Fabrice Pellegrin’s work, considers that Diptyque’s brief mainly called for a pleasant fragrance. He grants the chamomile announced by the house, but perceives the artichoke only in the earthy greenness common to rose soliflores.
He finds the lychee note too labored and faults the fragrance for trying too hard to seem natural. Rose de Mai, signed by Jean-Claude Ellena for Perris, seems to him by contrast light, natural and translucent, and reveals, in his view, most of Eau Rose’s weaknesses.
