Centaurus

Between an opening of honeyed tobacco, cinnamon and peppers and a base of benzoin, vanilla, tonka bean and balsam, Centaurus draws a line that runs from dry spice to resinous warmth. Creed launched it in 2024 in Eau de Parfum, built around a heart of sandalwood, patchouli, heliotrope, geranium and jasmine.

Composition

Tobacco and spices

Tobacco opens the accord on tones of honey, almond and wax. Cinnamon brings its bark with woody and spicy accents, cardamom a fresh spice. Pink pepper retains a certain sweetness, while pepper comes across as dry, with a herbaceous touch.

Woods and flowers

Sandalwood gives a velvety, warm wood. Patchouli adds an earthy dampness shot through with camphor. Heliotrope brings a vanilla-like, balsamic creaminess, geranium a floral sweetness reminiscent of rose, and jasmine a sugary warmth with a wild temperament.

Resins and balsams

Benzoin, a resin with hints of vanilla, caramel and toasted almond, anchors the base. Vanilla adds sugar, spice and warmth; tonka bean, toasted nuances of almond and caramel. Ambroxan extends the whole with an amber wood with an animalic accent, and a balsam delivers caramel, wax and leather.

A woody amber

Classed among the ambers, the composition draws this character from its base: benzoin, vanilla, tonka bean and balsam form the resinous, sugary warmth typical of this family, which Ambroxan tints with an amber and woody facet. The sandalwood and patchouli in the heart tier give it a woody foundation.

Alcohol on the label

The INCI list declares alcohol, under the listing ALCOHOL. In alcoholic fragrances, ethanol serves as a solvent for the odorant materials: it dissolves them, carries them, and evaporates on contact with air, releasing the notes of tobacco, spices and balsams described above.
