FougèreCreed
Creed traces its beginnings to a London tailoring workshop of 1760 and its shift toward perfume in nineteenth-century Paris. The house known to the market today is, however, that of Olivier Creed, sixth generation, who from the 1980s onward built it into a benchmark of niche perfumery. It has belonged to L'Oréal since April 2026.

CitrusA history the house traces back to 1760
The house places its beginnings in 1760, in a London tailoring workshop opened by James Henry Creed, and recounts that a pair of scented gloves given to George III earned it its first perfume commission, Royal English Leather. It dates its arrival in Paris to 1854, under the patronage of Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie.
This chronology is the house's own, and it is reported here as such. No independent archive supports it on the perfume side: the Creeds of the nineteenth century appear in fashion collections as tailors and suppliers of riding apparel.
Olivier Creed and the shift of the 1980s
Sixth generation of the family, Olivier Creed took a quiet production to the rank of a global brand. Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Millésime Impérial and Aventus, which built the house's reputation with the general public, all date from his creative direction.
He died in May 2026. His son Erwin, born in 1980, had shared creative direction for several years and represented the house in public; he remains its family figure, seventh of the name.
From Fontainebleau to the L'Oréal group
The fragrances are composed and blended in Fontainebleau, where the house claims a method of infusing raw materials that it calls the Art of Millésime. Olivier and Erwin Creed sourced their own raw materials, among them Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian citrus.
Creed belonged to Kering, which had brought its beauty activities together in 2023. L'Oréal completed the acquisition of Kering Beauté in April 2026, a four-billion-euro deal that brought it the house; Creed has since fallen under L'Oréal Luxe.
