Delphinus

Between the camphorous incense and sharp pepper of the opening and a base where smoky leather meets earthy patchouli, Delphinus stretches a thread of almond and tonka bean. Launched by Creed in 2024 as an Eau de Parfum, it draws its inspiration from the Delphinus constellation, as claimed by the house, and belongs to the amber woods family.

Where to buy

Delphinus was released by Creed in 2024, as an Eau de Parfum. The house classifies it in the amber woods family and presents it as unisex. It claims as inspiration the Delphinus constellation, a celestial figure whose Latin name, Delphinus, gives the fragrance its title. Two bottles exist, of 50 ml and 100 ml.

Composition

Spicy opening

Incense sets the tone with its camphor, wax and spice accents. Black pepper answers it, sharp and dry, with a second pepper whose dryness is tinged with grass. Almond slips into this ensemble its powder, its sweetness and a gourmand touch.

Floral and creamy heart

Heliotrope brings vanilla, balsam and cream; orchid, a touch of anise and hawthorn. Iris is powdery, buttery, veiled with violet, lily a spicy white flower. Vanilla, tonka bean and almond sweeten the tier, while incense, patchouli, black pepper and pink pepper extend its spicy, earthy relief.

Leather base

Leather is expressed here through smoke, tar and tobacco. Patchouli adds its earthy, damp material, with camphorous undertones, and tonka bean a sweetness of toasted almond and caramel, which softens this dark foundation.

Amber and wood

Retained as a family, amber designates warm, balsamic accords; vanilla, tonka bean and heliotrope carry its roundness here. The woody facet announced by Creed comes through patchouli, a material drawn from a leaf with the scent of undergrowth, and through resinous incense.

What the label declares

Coumarin, a molecule with the scent of hay and almond, echoes the tonka bean. Eugenol evokes clove, geraniol rose, limonene citrus. Among the ionones, the alpha-isomethyl variant recalls the violet of the iris. Benzyl salicylate and benzyl benzoate have balsamic tonalities.
